This story starts a long time ago...
, during the first years of 1800. Napoleon was ruling, and his traces are still present today. In our dialect we call chairs “siege” and the streets “ruve”. Untill our grandfather generation our earth was divided in pieces and every piece had a name: Carbonazza, Piane di Maggio, Casone… each of them was associated to family of sharecroppers. Farms, sharecroppers families, country houses and property were part of an harmonious structure with commitments, rights and bonds difficult to explain now.
Nevertheless, I still remember them, some of the old sharecroppers of my grandfather time. The peach basket that Nicolino used to bring to Donna Beatrice, my mother. She used to offer him a glass of red wine that Nicolino drank in the kitchen, while he was seated on a chair close to the wall.
And I remember my grandmother, she was a lyrical singer, a charming and talented woman. She spent her youth, during 1920’s in Naples, a city with an artistic and cultural soul.
She returned to Abruzzo, such a different region, after her marriage with grandfather: Don Arturo
Several years after his death I found his ID again in a drawer. Under “Job description” there was “owner” as profession.
Then, the war arrived in our country. The front line stopped on our territory for many months, bringing with it poverty, hunger, fear and ruins. Eventually, bullets stopped, and the earth did not lose its power to bloom again.
The big change arrived with my father: a real innovator. He interpreted years ’60s and ‘70s. He converted our property into a company. He was founder and president of the first social wine cellar, an important event for our territory. After that, he focused on the family wine cellar, merging terrains and diversifying vineyards.
There was no brand yet, in that time wine was sold to others.
Now it is our time, we are mothers of thee awesome children, , living a very different life. We understood that our terrain belongs to us and we belong to it much more than we have ever thought. It is an unusual way of belonging, that is closer to a conservation. We inherited it from who lived before us and we will give it to the ones that will outlive us with our contribution. Tenuta Tre Gemme is exactly this one …
This is our contribution: a brand owned by our family that produces excellent wines, respecting the environment and enhancing our territory.
